MISSION
Kamloops Adult Learners Society (KALS)
is a non-profit organization whose mission is to
increase the
availability and access of educational
opportunities in the Kamloops/Thompson region
for retired adult learners who wish to enrich their lifestyle
through life long learning.
VISION
The
Kamloops Adult Learners Society was established
with a vision of expanding educational opportunities for citizens in their retirement years.
We believe that participation in continuous
learning benefits the individual by enhancing
quality of life,
and are conducive to good health in mind, body,
and spirit. In addition, KALS provides a forum
for the
sharing of knowledge and ideas with others in a
non-threatening venue.
Learners contribute to the betterment of their
community through interaction and partnerships
with other
community groups.
Peer instruction and peer learning are
fundamental principles of the Society; thus the
expertise of retired individuals is utilized is
a valuable resource in organizing programs and
instruction of courses.
As a voluntary, non-profit Society, KALS
endeavours to keep tuition costs affordable in
order to include
access for those with a modest income.
