Roland Cobb was born in Edmonton, Alberta in 1936.  He moved with his parents and sister to Vancouver in 1941.  Roland  attended school in West Vancouver and then went to UBC to earn a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in Physics.  In 1961  he moved to Rochester, N.Y. Where he worked with the Cosmic ray Group at the University of Rochester, receiving a PhD in 1967.  In the same year he married his wife, Abundia, in Rochester and then travelled west to Victoria, B. C. to work on the TRIUMF nuclear accelerator project at the University of Victoria.  In 1970, he moved to Kamloops to teach Physics at the newly opened Cariboo College.  In 1971, he built an observatory at the college and began teaching an astronomy course.  Roland retired in 1999. Roland’s astronomy classes for us have been a delight to all who have taken them in.
